ABOUT THE HITTITES:
The Hittites were an ancient Anatolian people who established an empire centered on Hattusa (near modern Boğazkale in Çorum Province, Turkey) during the second millennium BC. At its height, the Hittite Empire was one of the dominant powers of the ancient Near East — contemporaries and rivals of Egypt and Babylon. Their civilization left a legacy in art, law, and diplomacy; the Treaty of Kadesh with Ramesses II (c. 1259 BC) is one of the earliest surviving international peace agreements. (Source: Wikipedia)
